Our Mission Statement

The Andover Elementary/Middle School is fully committed to helping all children of Andover prepare for the challenges of our constantly changing society.

We, the Andover Elementary/Middle School Community – families, administration, faculty, staff, students, and the wider community of the town, will work together to embrace and generate intellectual, physical, and social-emotional growth opportunities targeted at strengthening our children’s abilities and taking into account the unique needs and dreams of children.

We understand that continual evaluation of programs and assessment of student achievement are vital to the success of our programs. We also understand that diverse teaching techniques, community participation, faculty education, and open communication are equally important.

"Soaring to be the best we can be!"

Dear AEMS Families,

On Wednesday afternoon, the New London Police received a report of a child being followed (first on foot, and then in a vehicle) by a man in New London after getting off the school bus. The child ran home and the man drove away.

In Andover there were unconfirmed reports yesterday afternoon of a suspicious person on Main Street in Andover in a white sedan or van using binoculars. This may or may not be related.

However, this situation does serve as a reminder to review safety practices with your children.

  1. Don't talk to strangers.
  2. Don't walk with strangers.
  3. Don't accept gifts from strangers.
  4. Don't talk to strangers when they ask you to pet their puppy, offer to show you their really cool car, or tell you that a parent is injured or in an accident.
  5. If ever approached by a stranger, tell a parent or an adult.
  6. Don't get into cars with strangers.
  7. Children should be supervised and not walking alone.
If I get more information I will share it with you.

Global Awareness Day (GAD) May 14th!
GAD is one piece of a series of educational initiatives and activities to increase the global awareness of AEMS students. AEMS was pleased to welcome the Concord School District's "Be the Change" club to share the day. Be the Change includes students representing at least 25 countries. They are new Americans and we have much to share with each other. Students had small group discussions in the morning and gathered together for an assembly in the afternoon.
