I have been teaching at AEMS for 19 years.  I have taught in a variety of positions from first grade to middle school. This will be my 4th year teaching 4th grade.    My favorite part of teaching at AEMS is the community we have created here within the school between the staff, students, families, and community.
In my spare time I love to read, watch movies (I love Disney), and play games with the family.  I also enjoy cooking and baking. With two high school athletes, I spend a lot of time going to sporting events.  Soccer and Lacrosse are our favorites!! This summer I did some traveling for my son's lacrosse team.  We met some wonderful people and got to spend a weekend in Olympic Park in Lake Placid, New York.  We also visited Fort Ticonderoga on our way home.

Click Homework Pencil for nightly homework.

Students are expected to complete their homework nightly.  When an assignment is late, they are expected to complete it and pass it in the next day.

Please check the homework link and your child's agenda nightly for homework.

We are starting a new program- EnVision.  Students will need to know their multiplication facts.  We will focus on multiplication, division and fractions this year.  Students can access the program through the link below.

Students need to make sure they have a Just Right book with them.  Each student will have a personalized reading goal.  They earn points by passing an AR test (Accelerated Reading).    They should be reading every night.    We will be working on comprehension skills.

Students will get a weekly spelling list which consists of High Frequency words and words that follow a spelling pattern.    Below I will attach a spelling strategy sheet to help your child learn new words.  We will also be learning parts of speech and doing a lot
of writing.  Writing will be incorporated in all subject areas.  We will be workin
g real hard on using evidence to support our thinking.

Our focus this year is NH history with a visit to the State House.  We will be looking at the geography, government, colonial life, and industry of NH to name a few topics.

  •  check homework folders and planners every night with your child
  • check with your child before removing anything from their folder or bags
  • Please help your child to become more independent by guiding them when packing their homework, lunches/snacks, and bags instead of doing it for them.
  • It is helpful to make sure their bags are packed the night before so there is less stress in the morning.
  •  set up a nightly routine to do homework and make sure you share with your child what's happening during the week so they can work on time management
