Current Units of Study
Social Studies:Social skills, Classroom Routine
Phonics (FUNdations): Scooping and marking syllable types, reviewing concepts from first grade
Literacy: We read across a multitude of genres. Students will be working hard on selecting a variety of "Just Right Books". We will be focusing on students learning to self-select appropriate books.
In our writing, we will be learning about sentence structure and focusing on utilizing the writing process to ensure that our final product is the BEST it can be.
Your child should plan on reading nightly (at least 5 nights per week) for a minimum of 20 minutes.
Homework is handed out weekly from Thursday to Thursday. This gives your child quite a bit of time to complete it. Please allow time for your child to complete this work periodically throughout the week. It is not intended to be rushed and all completed the night before it is due... Please remind your children how important it is to always do your best!
